Michelle Arnold Paine is a contemporary painter with a unique freshness in her approach to representational painting. Her education is a distinctive combination of liberal arts and fine arts, with a B.A. from Gordon College in Art and English and a M.F.A. from University of New Hampshire. During the three years she spent living and working in Italy for an American study abroad program, she steeped herself in the Renaissance masters and the intimacy and beauty of daily Italian life. Images from the years she spent there flow in and out of her work. As well as having collectors across the US, she has had solo exhibits in Indiana and New Hampshire, and participated in group shows throughout the Boston area as well as Michigan and California.

Michelle enjoys sharing her love for painting and drawing through teaching. Her own education was based in life drawing and observational painting, and she continues to pass along to her students the same high respect for tradition and the natural world. She has been Visiting Faculty at the Gordon College in Italy program in Orvieto, Italy and currently teaches Painting and Drawing at Chester College of New England. She also teaches workshops in the greater Boston area.
